Let's talk fic - Anon discussion thread

Since many of the writers are anxious to discuss the fics without giving any hints away, post your anonymous thoughts and speculations about the fics here!

You should probably refrain from actually guessing the authors of the fics. But otherwise feel free to squee, whine, exclaim, etc.

Posting anonymously gives me a headache--all those extra buttons to click! :( Especially because I leave ridiculous amounts of feedback.

I have lots of favorites this time. I was so excited that there were so many fics!

There really were a ton of great fics this time around! Like opening a long-anticipated gift! There are a whole bunch I could mention in the way of favorites, but the best to me were the two fics by Xu. I'm pretty sure I know who wrote them, as only one person has that particular sort of flow. If I'm wrong, wow, I have a new author to add to my list of favorites.

Also, minor pairings! Saeki/Ashiwara! Ogata/Ichikawa! Yongha/Yashiro! Kaneko+Mitani! Mitani/Akari! Waya/Shigeko!!! I am so happy!

Maybe it's just me, but I really hated the 1000 word limit this time around. Last round was filled with brilliant writing that was in depth and hilarious, but this round I felt the writing was good, but felt strained or incomplete. I found myself scrolling through a lot of the fics and not really being able to get into them.

The themes were interesting though. I would like another set of those next round.

I think it's no secret that I'm less fond of shortfics than I am of the longer ones. It's really a different format, and it's often times hard for people to distill an idea into a word limit. It's easier to be more expansive when there's more "room" and fewer "limits." There were several really brilliant fics for this round, though, so I'm not disapointed. It's like comparing different art styles...

I agree with this person. The 1000 word limit was murder. I went over with three of my fics, and had to snip and trim and sweat for hours. It probably took longer to make them the right length than in took to write them, and I found myself leaving out things I really wanted to say. Clearly, I am too verbose for this challenge.

On the other hand, it's pretty amazing what you can fit into 1000 words if you really try.

*g* I loved the word limit, but that's probably because I have trouble even hitting past 700. I'm one of the people better at condensing than expanding, yeah.

Next challenge is long-fic, I think? and that's probably going to kill me.
