It seems like a lot of people are saying "OMG what should I create for this special amazing non-fic mini-round yyeeeeeaaaaarrrggh."

So why don't we throw up random ideas here for anyone to use? Any and all insane ideas. Yeah? Yay!

(I think anonymous commenting isn't necessary? Since anyone can use the ideas.)

Hello, fellow Hikago fans! As you've probably seen, sign ups for round 15 of blind_go have arrived, and you guys know what that means: lots and lots of flailing, starting now! For anyone new to our challenge here, this is the place we come to chat, flail, cry, procrastinate, plot, ask and answer questions, and support each other. ❤

Anonymouse is encouraged, especially if there could be clues to your fic, but obviously isn't required, and comments will be screened during the guessing period just in case. Participants also often use their blind_go ID's once they get them, which adds a fun twist to things and you're certainly welcome to do that as well. ^_~ Either way, comments will be screened during the guessing period just in case (er, assuming I remember to do it later XD).

Writers: Complaints about lack of progress, procrastinating, requests for ideas, and more are all awesome.

So now that the Blind Go sign ups are over and we're eagerly ~~procrastinating~~ making preparations! I thought it might be fun to have a day of fic sprinting this weekend in the Hikaru no Go chat?

I was thinking of starting it atUTC (GMT/Zulu)-time: Friday, 22 November 2013 at 22:00:00 and then keeping it going for as long as people are interested.

Guessing Post Gathering Spot

Hey guys! Looks like we have a few author guessing posts up, so you know what that means... here we have the gathering spot for all the posts! For anyone new, this is how it works. Some authors put up posts for their own private guessing game, either on their own personal journal or here on kifu_archive- offering some kind of prize for correct guesses. It can be a fun way to get drabbles and stuff out of people. ^_~ The post should, obviously, be screened for comments so other players don't potentially give you away. That being said, guesses should not be confirmed or denied until after the reveals, because that disqualifies them from guessing on the actual blind_go post! Also, even though it's a tradition, not everybody does it, so you shouldn't feel pressured into making one if you don't want to. Prizes don't have to be writing, either. We've had people offer up icons, art, FST's, playlists, layouts... your imagination is the limit, yeah? :D

I don't know how many people were planning on putting up guessing posts, but should anyone be interested... this will serve as the gathering place for those posts. It's always useful when those things are in one place. ^_^ So if you have a post up for guessing that's not on the list here, just comment and it'll be added. :D

Also, don't forget to guess on the main post where the fics are. The deadline for guessing is September 29th, 11:59 pm EST- TOMORROW- you don't want to miss it! Comment! Guess! Love! ♥

Fics are up! We all know that guessing is hard- putting a bunch of fics together like this and wanting people to guess who's who certainly isn't going to be easy, and it might be getting a bit confusing. SO. This post is for dropping hints! How does this work?

1. All comments should be anonymous!! We're talking hints, after all!
2a. Authors - leave little hints as to what you wrote! ETA: sign your anon comments with your author ID, please!!
2b. Guessers - leave little hints to the writers you think you know... OR ask questions about the ones you REALLY can't pin down!
3. Don't just give it away, though!! For instance, something like "[This fic] really sounds similar to a fic in Round 4." Never "I think [blank] wrote [blank]."
4. Inappropriate comments will be deleted. My apologies in advance if that becomes necessary.

We want lots of guesses, so let's have some fun teasing each other with hints! Oh, and as a side note, if anybody's planning on doing guessing posts, let me know. If there's more than one person doing it, I'll put up the usual gathering spot post. :D

Hey guys! This isn't anything blind_go related, but I wanted to warn everyone about a nasty virus going around on LJ. You may or may not have seen it already. The virus involves hacked accounts posting youtube videos in places. It's presented either as a youtube link or an embed, and the video seems to be in Portuguese. [Edit: Apparently there's an English version too, but it's just as random. You'll know it when you see it.] DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK OR THE VIDEO. I've removed a couple from kifu_archive already, but if you see any, feel free to poke at me and I'll delete it as soon as I can.

Some more information here and here. I think this thing is attacking comms more than anything else, but be aware in your own journals too- everyone be safe!

The deadline for Blind Go is approaching (All fics will be due by 11:55 pm EDT Friday, May 4th) so some people will be wrapping up, and some people will just be starting their stories. ^.~

I thought that this might be a good time to try and have a post, for people who are looking for betas - or people who are interested in volunteering as a beta.

Hello Kifu Archive! As Ver has already told you, I am hostilecrayon, the new co-mod in these parts. If all goes well, you probably won’t hear from me much, so keep right on looking to Ver for all the amazing BG survivor activities she puts out for us! I’m more of an ‘as needed’ mod – namely, I deal with enforcing the rules Ver lays out for us.

As with any good community, Kifu Archive has rules – it has to if we’re going to keep everything as enjoyable as possible for everyone. I’m just going to be addressing a couple of questions about these rules so that the intent is clear, as there has been some confusion in the past, and we’re hoping for smooth sailing from here on out.

This is all I wish to address at the moment – I will make future posts if needed, though I am hoping it won’t be. This is the thread where you should direct all of your comments and concerns, and I will be happy to address them. Otherwise, get writing, as the Blind Go deadline is hot on our heels! Hey guys! I have a couple of things to talk about, so please bear with me!

1. hostilecrayon will be joining the mod team. She will have her own special (but super important) job, so you guys will still mostly be dealing with me. Welcome, Lish!

2. Chat! I meant to post this last weekend, but urgh life. The week has gotten away from me. So the plan here is to try to cater to different timezones. What seems to work most for people looks to be Friday and Sunday, so we'll go with Friday night and Sunday morning. Here's where the previously mentioned hosting stuff comes in, though- I don't get home from work until about 10:30pm or so my time, so obviously someone would need to host before that if people want it open earlier. And Sunday morning, generally, is a no go period unless we're talking 5-6am EST. SO. Let me know when along those times you can host, if you can, and of course feel free to open up chat when you can along those lines. :D And don't forget the banner! The text box for the banner is posted here- I tried copying it, but it doesn't seem to want to work for me.
